Nutrition for Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease
Branson Nephrology and Dialysis offers Nutritional Counseling to our patients. We have a Registered Dietitian on staff who will teach you how to choose the right foods, and help create a meal plan that's appropriate for you.
While practicing a healthy diet is a vital role for everyone to support good health, it is especially important for people with Kidney Disease.
The kidneys act as a filter for the body by removing waste products from the blood. If your kidneys are not functioning properly they do not filter your blood properly. That means harmful waste products can accumulate in the blood. Even renal replacement therapies do not remove all of the waste that builds up in your body from the food and drink that you consume. This is why it's important to know what the basic dietary guidelines are for people with Kidney Disease. Our Renal Dietitian is here to help give you that knowledge, address any nutritional concerns you might have, and work with you to create a meal plan that is tailored to your indiviual Kidney Disease Treatment Plan.
The overall goal of our Nutritional Counseling Services is to help you feel your best, and maintain optimal nutrition while preserving Kidney function.
